The garage needed speakers so when I’m doing garage stuff I can stream stuff loudly. The house being mostly Google-fied, the garage had to match.. but you can’t get Chromecast Audio anymore to fire up and stream to regular speakers.
You can, however, use an old Chromecast (video version), run it through an cheapo HDMI audio/video splitter, then running the audio to a small amplifier to the speakers. Logical and admittedly a bit inefficient. For garage speakers.
So I hid the project in a box to neaten it up. Put a lid on it and no one sees the technical debt.
For $90 you could just get a WiiM streamer.. but what fun is that!
